The BA in Political Science offers the substantive competencies and the methodological skills typical of an interdisciplinary degree at the intersection of economics, law, political science, sociology and history. Such competencies and skills are essential for the analysis and understanding of the structures and processes of contemporary societies from a comparative perspective. Four distinct curriculums allow the students to choose and deepen specific disciplinary and thematic approaches with the appropriate conceptual and methodological tools.
Graduates in Political Science have skills and competences to work in various fields, including national and multinational private companies and organizations, public administrations and institutions, supranational and international organizations, non-governmental and third sector organizations, research centres, consulting agencies, journalism and publishing houses.
Employment statistics (Almalaurea)

Admission into the Bachelor's degree programme in Political Sciences is conditional upon earning a secondary-school diploma, or other equivalent foreign diploma. Students must also have a skill set and knowledge base allowing them to successfully follow the study programme. More specifically, a basic knowledge in the area of language and communication, as well as logic and mathematics, is required.
Candidates are likewise required to prove English language proficiency at a B2 level (or higher) under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

In order to safeguard educational quality standards in relation to available resources, pursuant to art. 2 of Law 264/1999, enrolment in the degree programme is capped to 300 students, plus a quota of non-EU students residing abroad.
Admission to the programme is subject to a mandatory online test delivered by CISIA (Interuniversity Consortium for Integrated Access Systems): TOLC-E. Two admission sessions will be held – one in the Spring for 175 places, and one in the Summer for 125 places, and any remaining places from the Spring session.

The candidate's educational background will be assessed through the admission test. Applicants must achieve the minimum scores set forth in the call for applications for the three areas of the TOLC-E test.
Students admitted with a lower score in one or more of these areas will have to fulfil additional learning requirements (OFA), by attending courses or workshops, including online, or reading supplementary study materials. The OFA shall be satisfied and assessed within Year I of the programme. For information on how to fulfil the OFA, please refer to the University portal, Study area of the Faculty of Political, Economic and Social Sciences.  Students who do not fulfil these requirements within the deadline must enrol in the following academic year as students repeating Year I, and will not be able to take any exams for years following Year I.

English language OFA

In order to take the English language exam required by the study plan, students must be proficient in English at a B2 level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). English-language proficiency may be certified as follows:

  • through a language certification, earned within three years prior to the date of submission, at a B2 level or higher (for the list of language certifications recognised by the University, please review: https://www.unimi.it/it/studiare/competenze-linguistiche/placement-test-test-di-ingresso-e-corsi-di-inglese). The certificate must be uploaded at enrolment;
  • through a Placement Test, administered by SLAM during Year I, from October to December. Should a student fail the test, he/she must take the course provided by SLAM.

The Placement Test is mandatory for all students who fail to submit a valid certificate.
Those who do not take the Placement Test by December, or who fail to pass the final exam for the course within six attempts, must obtain an outside (paid) certification by the programme year contemplated for their exam in English.

We strongly suggest to take advantage of the possibilities offered by the Erasmus+ project.
Our students may spend up to three terms (two semesters) in a foreign university, in the framework of the Erasmus+ agreements signed by the University of Milano. Students can follow the courses offered in partner universities, take their exams, complete their research and write the essay for their final thesis. All these activities will be recognized as part of their duties according to their predefined "Learning agreement".
Our Bachelor program has Erasmus+ exchange agreements with 8 European foreign universities, in the field of social and political sciences, economics, history and law. Some of these agreements are in common with other Ba programmes of the Faculty of Political, Social and Economic sciences. More specifically, we offer up to 24 exchange positions with universities in Spain, 14 in Germany, 14 in France, 5 in Denmark, 2 each for Norway, Portugal and Spain, and 1 in the United Kingdom.
In the period abroad students must obtain at least 18 Ects. Before leaving, they will have to prepare their "Learning agreement" together with professor Beatrice Magni, in charge for the Erasmus+ program. After their return, they will have to complete the procedure for the recognition of the Ects earned abroad with the Erasmus office of the Department of Social and Political Sciences.

PROGRAMMA ERASMUS+ TRAINEESHIP
There is even the possibility of paid internships in foreign companies or organizations, for a period of up to 12 months, according to the Erasmus+ placement framework.

Highly recommended, not mandatory
